The Drop bookshelf is from Nendo's 'dancing squares' collection, released commercially by Cappellini. The tilted angle of the top shelf provides a variety of options for storing books - they can be opened to display particular pages, for example, draped over the angled top or stacked on a slant. They took away the back of the shelf so that it can be used from either side, expanding the places where it can be used.
Drop bookshelves are made of a thin sheet of laser-cut and matt-lacquered metal. The peculiarity of this project is the study of a scale of colors Nendo- inspired by the natural elements of Japan, from the rose-colored blossoms of cherry trees, to the warm gray of the stones of the brooks. Drop is offered in three sizes: two, four and five shelves. Includes black plastic adjustable glides. The low bookcase can also be used as a night stand.
